The ENCJ is an institutional observer to the European Law Institute (ELI), an independent non-profit organisation devoted to improving the quality of European law understood in the broadest sense. ELI is organising its 2014 Projects Conference and General Assembly, 24-26 September in Zagreb, Croatia. The opening keynote will be delivered by Ivo Josipović, President of the Republic of Croatia. Progress reports on the current ELI projects will be presented and panels will focus on specific legal topics such as collective redress and competition damages claims and the future of human rights litigation in Europe. Paul Gilligan, the President of the ENCJ will chair one of the the panel sessions. An exploratory session on potential ELI future projects and the increased involvement of practitioners will round off the Conference. The conference will bring together legal experts from a variety of disciplines and nationalities. The Projects Conference is free of charge for ELI members, who are also invited to participate in the General Assembly on 26 September. A small conference fee of EUR 80 will apply to non-ELI members.
